In Austria there is a toll obligation for all vehicles travelling on public roads. This obligation applies to trucks as well as cars and motorhomes.
✓ Vignette for passenger cars
Since 1997, the toll on Austria's motorways and expressways for passenger cars and all vehicles up to and including 3.5 tons is processed via a vignette time-dependent. There is a 10-day, a 2-month, or an annual vignette. The vignette must be correctly affixed when entering the motorway or expressway, otherwise there are severe penalties of at least 120 €. For some time now, Austria has also had a digital vignette in addition to the stick-on vignette.

The amount of the Go toll depends on the distance driven, the number of axles of your vehicle, as well as the emission class (EURO 0-VI). The toll becomes more expensive the further you drive, the more axles your vehicle has and the lower the EURO emission class. Since 2017, there has also been a surcharge for traffic-related noise pollution. Furthermore, the toll is slightly more expensive at night (between 22:00 and 05:00) than during the day.
On the special toll routes: A 9 Gleinalm or Bosruck tunnel (Pyhrn motorway) A 10 Tauern and Katschberg tunnel (Tauern motorway) A 11 Karawanken tunnel (Karawanken motorway) A 13 Brenner pass (Brenner motorway) S 16 Arlberg road tunnel (Arlberg expressway) and on the: A 12 Inntal motorway state border at Kufstein to Innsbruck-Amras junction an increased tariff applies.

The driver must also specify the number of axles. Only vehicles used commercially must set the number of axles. If your vehicle is registered as a commercial vehicle, you must make sure that the current setting is correct each time you drive in Austria. To check the number of axles, briefly press the button on the toll box. The current setting lights up. To change the number of axles, press the button until the next number of axles lights up. When the correct number of axles is set, you can drive off.
You will receive a vehicle declaration with your delivery. The vehicle declaration is a letter with relevant vehicle data. In Austria you are obliged to carry this document with you and to show it at controls.
In Austria, please always listen for the "beep". If the box does not emit any or 4 "beeps", you must report to a GO-Point within 5 hours / 100km to make the additional toll payment.
